T Stands for Tuesday-Hot Days & Creative Muse, Paintings, TIOT

Happy Tuesday, and wow we are almost half way through June already. This also brings us to T with our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth. You are most welcome to join us  just show a drink related photo in your post.

We have had very summer like days for awhile now-hot and humid. So my tomato plants and pepper plants are growing nicely and the herbs have really grown.  We also needed to break down and turn the air conditioner on-the humidity gets really bad in this area of Missouri so there is no getting around not using it. Our age with some health issues also makes it necessary.
I never grew up with air conditioning-my parents refused to have it. When we were kids and it got too hot they would take us to a movie or we would walk around in the malls getting built back then. Actually Larry and I only had a small air conditioner in the bedroom and didn't have all air conditioning in the house til we retired to the woods house. That was quite a treat for us.
I still feel a little guilty spending the money on it, but I think I always hear my farm girl Mom telling us kids to just sit in front of the fan for awhile haha.

Sorry didn't mean to go about that-my hands just typing 😀

I made a batch of keto cookies that we both really liked. She named them "oatmeal" cookies because she ground up coconut and almond slices to the texture of oatmeal. Only change I made was to use coconut oil for the butter so they ended up more cakey which I like any way. oh and I didn't use her add ins but used a handful of yellow raisins.  Here is the recipe  she uses swerve sweetener, I got started using lakanto sweetener that also has monk fruit in it, I really like it so far.

I have a new painting on my wall-it needs to get framed yet, you may have seen it on Barbara's page-I fell in love with it so she gifted it to me
Thank you soooo much again Barbara.

This also encouraged me to try painting again with my acrylics on Sunday

I had painted from this photo I took of the sunrise awhile back, but I wanted to try it again. I had watched a couple of painting classes since then. I did not look at the first attempt til after I finished this one.  My first attempt had allot of textures which I liked, but I think I did a better job-finally- with the sky and the water on this one.

   I am quite pleased.

I also started a new journal page for AJJ A stitch in time, but I am waiting for a new stamp I ordered, I don't have any clock stamps in my stash so I browsed online and found two on ebay from the same seller that I liked-he reduced the prices and gave me free shipping. Happy about that.

This morning my muse was still here (Monday) so I have a journal page for Try it on Tuesday that I will be sharing.  The theme is Masculine.
I went through my collection of papers and clippings-tossed a bunch in the process, organized a little and came up with this page.
I like it and hope it is masculine enough.

The background is one of those wet wipes that I used while painting, I started saving those (Elizabeth gave me that idea-thanks)
I made a collage from different magazine cut outs, the 1850 is from a folger coffee bag, the bison came from a package of ground bison, the blue strip on top is a paper scrap from my eco printing. That strip to the right under 1840 is from the bottom of an envelope that has some postal cancelling on it.

(all photos will enlarge just click on them)

I did this top page just for fun and thought it gave some visual balance too

Saturdays and Friday evening are the busiest at the lake it seems during the warmer days.
This sailboat was out with all those boats-not sure he was happy with that. After I took this photo there were all sorts of very large boats and those "motorcycles on water" all around him-he was really rocking.

I did get the blue merino and silk roving spun up, and am now on to the next of my Yellowstone inspired colors.  My beverage reference is a glass of hard cider from Strongbow

When I bought these rovings at Fiber U a couple years ago the price is by weight-she had to add a little bit more so that's why those are so short on the right

Months ago I ordered Outlander's second cookbook. I really enjoyed reading the first one and am happy I ordered this one as well-good recipes, and fun reading She also has references to make gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan, dairy free-which is a thoughtful addition.

I am off to whip up another keto new york cheesecake-the last one was good, I decided to bake us up another one.

A few weeks back the Wal Mart I shop at now finally had some USA made flags in. These have longer sticks so I bought a package of them-mostly for 4th of July, but also to have a flag on the patio.

Happy T everyone.

  2. WOW, Kathy. I have central heat and air, but I have an auxillary window AC in my office. It's to keep the electronics cool and to keep me cool. There are windows on all four sides of this room, so it's like living in a sauna in the summer if I don't have it. I consider it protecting my health rather than being an out of pocket expense.

I really like your journal pages, Kathy. The painting you did was beautiful. I'm totally impressed. And your masculine page is nice, too.

Your spinning paid off nicely. That is beautiful yarn now. It is truly glorious and I love the blue.

It was really sweet of Barbara to gift you with that painting. She does excellent work and I know you will cherish it.

Thanks for sharing your art, your cookies, your spinning, your painting, and your hard cider with us for T this almost Tuesday.

When I was growing up in St.Louis NOBODY had A/C at home or in a car or at most workplaces. Times change, don’t they?

    1. yes I think way back then-I grew up in the 50s and 60s that a/c was thought of more as a luxury.

  4. Happy T day Kathy. You've been busy. Barbara's painting looks fantastic on your wall. and I love both of your art pieces. The masculine piece is fantastic and what a cool take on the challenge. Of course there are masculine Native Americans. Thanks for joining us. I can't wait to see what your clock stamps look like and your latest piece. You cookies look yummy too. And thanks for letting me know the latest Outlander cookbook was out. I also have the first one and I do enjoy it. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  5. AC:):) We grew up without too, and it was some years after marrying and moving into our home that hubby and I finally got central air (we already had the duct work in place from our heating). Beautiful art pages- of course I do love the scenic water ones best;) And spinning, and cooking and baking- you sure do have enough to stay busy all the time!
Had to chuckle about the flags- my hubby will NOT put up a flag (and we have several different styles we use for holidays especially) unless it was made in the USA! Happy T day!

  7. I like to hear stories like that! :-)
First time we "lived" in Perth we had no aircon, either, it was Christmas, stinkin´ hot, we sat in front of the cabin, a bucket of cold water by the side to sprinkle the coolness on our bodies :-)
Hey, we all still live, right?
There is a lot going on art-wise!
Crazy. It always gives me a feeling of freedom seeing your flag. The German one... not so much. It only means "soccer" to me, which I hate (otherwise you do not put up that flag here).
Lovely last pic, a happy T-Day to you!

    1. the flag has always been important here in the states. but sadly the sports will again be using our flag and anthem to protest by kneeling-I won't be watching those if they start that up again which they have been announcing they will-personally just too disrespectful to our nation as a whole.
sorry for the rant. yes I had a very fun art week-hugs

  8. Hi Kathy, you've been a busy bee, those cookies look delicious and all those colours in the yarns are so beautiful.
We've always had air con in our bedroom as July and August is far too hot to sleep but this year we paid to have it in the spare bedroom as the family we supposed to be coming this week for a holiday, unfortunately that isn't happening but I guess it is ready for next year.
    Happy T Day

  10. A fabulous post filled with eye candy and cookies. Your painting is lovely and the fiber colors match you painting, too. I like your new blog background. How lovely it would be to sit out on your deck, sip iced tea, watch the boats go by, and make some art. Take care and Happy T Day

  12. I love your sunrise painting! A stunner! And your collages are nice. I like collage, and I like how you designed yours. The sailboat looks more appropriate on the water than the monster craft do lol So pretty out there. I don't keep a flag up, but it's nice to have them for display on the holidays :) Great finding ones made here. Happy T Tuesday :)

  16. We didn't have AC when I was growing up, either. I only have window fans now, and when it's hot and humid, it's unbearable. Your cookies look delicious. You've been very creative this past week. I like your painting and your masculine piece. The yarn/wool colors look nice. I like the US flag you put on your deck. Happy T-Day!

  18. I'm sorry I haven't commented earlier. We have been out all day yesterday. And blogger doesn't like the iOS so I have to wait until I'm home and boot up the old desktop PC.
We have never had air conditioning. It is a typical american thing. Nowadays people here have put airco units in their bedrooms, but that is a new thing. In europe you will have airco in hotel rooms and in restaurants and some posh businesses. But rarely in private houses, (apart from the rich). We don't have airco but we have fans in every room. We keep the shutters down to keep the house cool and that is sufficient really. We don't use the fans much. It does make a difference that we have a dry heat here. There is very low hjumidity. My weather station reads 33%. (and 45% indoors).
Your painting has turned out really nice. I can understand you are pleased with it. Well done.
It's lovely to see the boats on the lake. Perhaps weekends are best avoided. After all you live right on the lake and are retired so you don't need to wait until the weekend.
    The yarn is beatiful.
The Strongbow is so inviting. I love Strongbow cider.Cheers!
    Sending you hugs,
    and a belated happy T-Day,
    Lisca

    1. Hi Lisca, my husband had told me that most of Europe does not have air conditioning. Yes Larry can go fishing any day in the summer except for saturdays and sundays and late fridays. we are really enjoying the views though. I need to look for strongbow near where we live now-one of my favorites too

  20. I loved reading the story about the air. I don’t know that we had air growing up either and when I rented my first place, I didn’t have air until a family member came to visit for a while and really, really needed one. But before that, I didn’t know the difference. Though I must confess, I love the hot heat. Yet, I also like the coolness. Both are nice.

Super fun cookies! I love to bake and I love seeing what others are baking and what they swap out in way of ingredients.

I would be pleased with that work too. Very well done and so peaceful looking, the art.

    Happy Cheesecake whipping up!

  21. Air conditioning never used to needed in the UK but lately it would be very welcome here! My youngest has air con in his living room and bedroom and it would be great to visit right now, very humid! We have several fans!!!! Your cookies look good! I need to bake again I think!! Your wool looks so pretty! Seeing the sailboat was lovely - that's what lakes are for!! I really love your masculine page - greta selection of elements! Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday. Seeing the bison made me smile, my eldest son had a thing for bisons when he was little(still does I think)and used to often request watching a wild life video we had taped from TV! Belated Happy T day, Chrisx
