T Stands for Tuesday & My Week

  Hi everyone,
T Stands for Tuesday today where we share a beverage related post with friends.
Click on button in right hand corner to visit and/or participate with our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth.

Not too much new happening this past week here in my Ozarks woods
We are so enjoying the cooler weather, a few more fresh veggies from the garden and I am still going through things in the house-repacking into new containers. We are slowly working on finding some storage space for our home-we have none what so ever in this house, and fun to remember what I have stored away.
I put Christmas items in one container instead of several, most of what I have now is pretty vintage-cause I am vintage now lol. I  enjoyed going through all my ornaments which I have not seen for several years now.
We don't have children, so we never really celebrated allot-I have not put up anything over the past several years but I have decided I want to this year-and figured out a spot for a tree even. Hubs will be rolling his eyes for sure haha. He is Jewish plus we have never gotten into any of the commercial side of the holidays over the years we have been married-35 years now.  We celebrate with good friends and good holiday foods and sharing with others. Actually during most of the days after Thanksgiving through the New Year I stay away from the stores.
I also looked into boxes of my depression and carnival glass pieces and repacked. Nice to see them again-we have some ideas now on how to get at these pieces.

This past week I have been working on clearing our long hallway--so I can start to prime paint with kilnz and then texture and then paint. Originally I was going to hire this done--but decided not to.
Made some good progress today. There are a couple difficult things to move like the heavy heavy boxes of floor tile-I need to get those away from the walls so I can work in those areas.
So this will be my new indoor project. I need help in the bathroom before I can finish up the rock work in there-hopefully in another month. I figured if I get the hallway completed than it will be ready to tile along with the bathroom floor.-wow real floors seem possible soon haha

I have been playing with my bison-alpaca fibers still-blending them a bit differently and still working on good ways to spin this lovely yarn. I came across a spinning group on facebook that I joined today-and I got some good tips for spinning this. That is one of the few things I enjoy on facebook-many really good groups.

I also have been getting inspired by my artist blog friend Barbara who is making hand made papers from different natural raw materials-like fresh corn husks and others-so of course I am excited about this and must try. I also have pampas grass growing which will work well too. Can't way now to try this out.

For my beverage tonight-I decided to make me a mini margarita served in a pretty piece from Japan-a resale shop find. Behind the glass is a peak at my bison-alpaca handspun.
    Happy T Day!!

  1. A few things to reply to, Kathy, cooler in NJ as well, until today. Summer is back! I laughed at your comment that you "are vintage". If that's so, I must be ancient. Join me and put up a holiday tree on a tabletop, so much more manageable than a big tree. My daughter's husband is Jewish, so they do both -- a tree with the Star of David on top. It would add a nice touch to your home for the holidays, but truly, it seems you have the spirit of the season already figured out by focusing on friends, holiday foods, and sharing. I agree about Facebook groups, they are the only reason I have a page. I just can't do the friends list and interacting thing. I'm eager to see your fine paper, a gift of nature! Check The Druids Garden blog on Wordpress, search for papermaking on her blog. Very informative!

  2. Sounds like you came to life with the cooler weather. You've been busy. I started cleaning a bookcase a week ago and I am still working on it. That's my whole week's project. You're a better person than me I guess. :) Hope you have a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

  4. So good to be reorganizing and finding all those ornaments you haven't seen in awhile. I loved the "vintage" comment. Since you live in the Ozarks, you might find a lovely tree on your property that you could cut down to use for a Christmas tree.

I had friends who lived on a farm when I lived in MO. They let me pick one of their trees and they even drove it to my home (they lived in KS). Since we were friends, they didn't charge me anything. My house had such high ceilings (14 ft), I opted for a 12ish foot tree. It would have cost an arm and a leg if I could have found something comparable in a tree lot. I'm sure you won't want anything that size. In fact, I don't have room for anything except table trees in my home in Wichita.

I want to see your handmade paper. I'm hoping to get some frames made and buy some screens so I can make paper again this summer. Mine has mostly been paper pulp, although I did make day lily leaf pulp once. I got three sheets out of it, it took two days to cut, cook, clean, and pull. I said never again. Paper pulp may not be as delicate, but it is SO much easier to make pulp from paper and water.

You have been going to town with those bison-alpaca weaves. I know you will be glad when you have enough yarn spun to actually create something.

Your Japanese mug is gorgeous. I love the blues and the design. I bet that margarita tasted great in it. Thanks for sharing your organizing skills, your thoughts on Christmas decorations, your yarn, and your margarita with us for T this Tuesday.

  6. I love the sound of a mini margarita, yum, and in such a pretty cup, too. Glad you are slowly getting things organized and changed in your house, that is something I need to do, too. Love the sound of paper from corn husks, sounds most intriguing. Enjoy playing with your wonderful fibres, too. Have a happy T Day, and a great August, hugs, Valerie

  7. Sounds like you are getting organised and have been busy in the cooler weather! Making paper sounds fun and your yarn looks fabulous. A mini margarita would be lovely, not sure my hubby would approve though as it's only 8.36 in the morning here ... lol 😉. Happy T Day! J 😊

  8. It sounds like you have been busy, but it is good to rediscover things that have been stored for a while. The papers sound good.

  9. After all your activity, nice to see you got to put your feet up and enjoy a margarita. I love the blue cup so very pretty. I've made hand-made paper but never with vegetation. Sounds intriguing. Hope you will blog about it in your spare time. (-; Happy T Day

  10. I love that blue and white Japanese piece. Lovely!

Organization is a trick I'm still working on learning. It's still hard for me to get rid of things I have fond memories of, even if there are boxes and boxes of them.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  13. The house sounds like it's really moving along now, Kathy. Rock wall nearly finished; tile ready to be installed. Woohoo! This is the exciting part. Glad you're enjoying paring down to try to make everything fit.

We did major downsizing when we moved into our current home. It took a looong time to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Some of those decisions were tough, but in the end it feels very freeing to not have so much stuff.

Isn't pampas grass very prickly and allergenic? We had some at the last house. I couldn't go near it! I'm wondering what part you can use to make paper. Be sure to share it on your blog if you do that.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

  14. I think the cooler weather is a good time to have a bit of a clearout/tidy up! It's good to look at what you have and decide what to do with it! I love your cup - don't think I have ever had a Margarita though! Peering at the Bison/Alpaca wool, I hope you show a better picture soon! Happy T Day! Chrisx

  16. Cheers! That Margarita looks so pretty in its very special cup.
I'm glad your weather has cooled down a bit. It's still hot here in Spain and on top of that it is a bit cloudy, so no sun, just murky heat.
I look forward to your paper making experiments. Your bison/alpace Project seems to be very successful. It looks lovely what I can see of it.
Had to smile about the vintage you..lol!
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Lisca
