Yesterday I went into town and picked up the photos I had framed. On facebook I have been following a photographer that I really love
I will hang these in the living room so I can really enjoy them.
I also needed to pick up a few items in town and ran into this Lodge cast iron square grill pan. I have been really wanting-needing a larger size grill pan than what I have so I snatched it up. Lodge is usa made though new they still make good heavy cast iron pieces. My favorite pieces and most of what we own is the vintage pieces by Wagner and Griswold but Lodge still makes good pieces. I saw one by the Pioneer Woman that was made here in the states too but not nearly as heavy and I liked the design and feel of this Lodge much better.
I found this photo online-I like that it is deeper than what I have and large enough for two pieces of meat. I like to get this super hot and then grill steaks etc-just like cooking over a fire outdoors but over a gas flame indoors.
We are going over to our friend's for fried catfish dinner. Last week hubs and him caught allot of catfish so tonight we will enjoy their catch. Our friend makes the best fried catfish-he has a fryer that gets super hot so that makes the difference-never greasy and he makes a batch gluten free just for me-so I need to decide what I want to make and bring tonight. Perhaps cast iron cornbread not sure yet.
Have an awesome weekend everyone
Update: new photos
I decided this morning to re season my go to cast iron pieces that I use all the time-about 10 of them. The new Lodge says they are pre seasoned but I still washed it up and re seasoned anyway
First photo is the new pan on the left and to the right is my old vintage grill pan
LOVE those photos, no wonder you wanted them! We don't have bison over here, so they are really special. Fried catfish sounds great, wouldn't mind that for my dinner either! Have a lovely weekend, and thanks for your visit on my blog. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLucky you!! I have always wanted a gas stove, and could never get a house with gas in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos -indeed -and super new pan -- I would love to taste your fish menue!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

The bison photos are great! They'll look great displayed on your wall. I have a couple of cast iron pans, but find one so heavy to lift it aggravates my wrist. How do you season your pans? I've tried a couple of ways, but neither is satisfactory to me. Glad to hear you'll have some cooler weather soon. Humid air is so draining.

Hi kathy
ReplyDeleteWe used to cook with cast iron when we went camping years ago when the kids were younger... But haven't used them in years... infact i'm sorry to say they are sitting in hubby's shop on a shelf all rust and cobwebby... Glad you found a pan you like... LOVE the bison photos... funny i don't like photos on my walls just paintings.... Now i have portraits of family on the wall but decorator pieces i like painted... Hugs! deb
It's still hot and humid here. What a drain on energy. What would we do without AC?
ReplyDeleteThose bison photos are superb. You certainly found some good ones.
I remember seasoning my grandmother's skillets. That was before I dropped one and learned I had an arthritic birth defect (I was 19 when that happened). Had to get rid of mine since I couldn't lift them anymore. Yours look SO impressive. Hope you have a great catfish dinner and take lots of photos. Have a great weekend, too, Kathy.
I've seen those pans. I have my grandmothers plain round cast iron pan and I not only love cooking in it But hope her talent seeps out into the food 😀 Gorgeous art. Can't wait to see how you get it framed. Hugs erika
ReplyDeleteNice photos!! I love cast iron but can't use it on my new glass top electric stove. They were getting too heavy for my hands but I still miss them and have had to relearn to cook with out them. I still have them though and will just grease them up and put them on a shelf in the basement just in case I'm able to get a gas stove again someday.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I love those photos of the bison - can't wait to see them in frames. Love your new grill pan. I have a ton of cast iron and use every piece of it. I've been out of town so just now getting to read a few blogs. Have a great week!
