Just Dropping in

Good morning and Hello dear Friends,

Nothing much new here. We had a little rain again so that has delayed my cutting grass-of course it is still growing with the rains and the heat ugh.

I had one of those nights last night, where I did not get a good sleep so I stayed up and did a lot of reading. I have been catching up on books to read that are on my Kindle. I am reading Shanna Hatfield right now-I always enjoy her stories-clean romances and her books are all different.. She is an author with a lot of stories in her head. Smiles  Each book at the end she shares a recipe that was included in the story, and she tells about happenings in her life or how she came about with the plot details-I find that interesting.

I am waiting for a call back from Larry's surgeon-from his fall back in October. End of last year he ordered x rays  from a company that does that in your home. However, they never got back to us with the results-although the tech said he is not supposed to say much he told us it all looked like it was healing and no lose screws, bent rod etc. He said also it would take at least a year or more for the bone to grow around the rod. Larry's femur bone was shattered not just broken.

Larry is not progressing so I need some assurance that this is normal for all of his health issues.  So this has me down in spirit, hoping they will return my call. I asked for an e visit over the computer she said she didn't think they did that-I asked her to find out. Larry has e visits with his heart doctor all the time now.

While I am typing this I can smell the apple-blueberry-cherry crisp baking in the oven. I wanted to use up the last of our fresh fruits before I get more this week.

I am enjoying the stitching. I did X's over that bird I did not care for.- That area didn't turn out super even after two do overs. I will try to do a better job on the next panel before I start stitching those.

I had originally thought of changing to earthy colors under the trees and wolf, but I can see this being a night sky should be the blue instead. The area below the X's  I will decide on dark greens or greys I still need to decide after this part is finished, what stitch to use around the stars, moon wolf and trees. I will search out filler stitches too for the wolf etc. not sure if I can make that look nice. Any suggestions??

Happy Midweek!

  1. Your piece is really coming along Kathy. But that's "strange" that they haven't gotten back to you regarding those x-rays. And I'd want some reassurance also. I hope you get some sleep tonight too, but like you, when I can't sleep I stay up reading. I don't know this author though. I hope you get your news soon. hugs-Erika

    1. Thank you Erika, the surgeon's office did not call me back today and I also called our family doctor too as Larry has had a really bad ear ache for several days now-he just told me about it. I will be back on the phone tomorrow

  2. How very stressful for both of you! I hope you find good answers to your questions.
We have been so hot I am sick of constantly sweating and the whir of fans. We need to get back to northern New Englad weather.

  4. I'm sure it is terribly stressful not having conversations about Larry's leg with the people who can tell you if he is on target or if things are healing in the right way. You're right about things taking a long time -- probably typical with such a serious injury but nonetheless concerning when you feel out on a limb. Good luck with that -- I hope you hear soon. The crisp sounds wonderful. They are my favorite desserts.

    1. We love crisps too and I like them better than making pie crusts now. This is a struggle for sure-I called them this morning-with no help at all-only that he needs to come in for an appt.

  5. I sure hope you get some answers on Larry's progression. That is so frustrating not knowing. I would be furious and calling constantly. I can smell that wonderful crisp over here. AM sure it was yummy. We love our fresh fruit this time of year and had watermelon last night. A blueberry/ strawberry trifle last week. Cross stitch looking good. Janice

    1. Thank you Janice-I may still need to re do that one area of the bird I wanted to cover up-will decide one the piece is done.
talked to the doctors office's early this morning since neither one got back to me yesterday-no help at all-there s answer is for Larry to come into the office-he is not strong enough for that still very frustrating for sure

  6. Kathy it seems like it has taken such a long time for Larry to heal. I understand your frustration while you are waiting...hopefully over time Larry will get better and you will have less concerns. Your crisp sounds delicious. As for your stitches and the wolf - I am sure you will do a great job. Love the layout and subject...hope you will show it when you are finished. Well take care and don't work too hard dear one. Hugs!

  7. Difficult to tell but from the pics it looks like theres a few stitches on that bird you haven't done yet? That may help when you do that.. Its difficult to fill in a space where the pattern isn't there but i think you did a great job!

Alvin has had a few E -Visits with his VA doctor.. He goes in to his heart doctor every 6 months for a 5 minute visit.. I'm always a little frustrated at that.. I wish they would check him over better.. She asks how he is doing and listens to his heart and thats it.. i don't know WHAT i want her to do.... just feels llike she should do more you know.. ? Hugs! deb

    1. Larry's heart doctor is over a 2 hour drive now since moving to the lake house. He usually gave Larry around 20 minutes when we drove in. and the evisits are long enough to ask any questions etc. so 5 minutes only is not good-not worth the visit really.
Yes it is difficult to fill the space with no pattern there-that area my stitches are a bit too small too and not evenly spaced. It may bug me enough to take that area out again and re do it.

  8. I'm sorry it's so hard to get information about how Larry is healing, I can understand that this is hard, and that it makes you feel insecure not knowing how things go. I wish him good and speedy helaing. look after yourself, hugs, Valerie
