This post is for Bleubeard and Elizabeth's T for Tuesday where we link up and share with friends with a drink related photo in our post-find link in my sidebar.
Still cold and rain here at the lake. There were allot of fisherman on the lake this past weekend here at Lake in the Ozarks even though it was quite chilly and very little sun. We are getting into the low 20's degrees F here again for the beginning of this week in the evenings. Brrr too chilly for us to do anything outdoors-so I have been blending fibers and spinning every day still. I switched back to blending fibers into the rolags off the blending board. I like this better now that I am getting better at pulling out the fibers to make one very long piece for spinning.
Sunday I finished up with the dark green Shetland wool roving-blended it with other fibers, turned out pretty I think. This was 4 ounces of the dark green-Still not spinning thinner yarn but I am improving, and since most of my other spun yarns are on the thick side it will be ok for the rauna project. I am deciding on what I want to use for the warp for this project (the yarn that is threaded onto the loom) Looking in my stash to see if I have something I can use up.
Next up is blending and spinning blues.
I was quite surprised to learn that Sunday was the day to change our clocks-again-this time forward. For some reason I was thinking this happened in April and read about it late Sunday afternoon on Facebook haha. That's ok as the time didn't matter to us. We are retired and really don't get out of the house much any more when the weather is not warm outdoors.
I hadn't made a fruit crisp in awhile so I made us an apple-raisin crisp on Sunday morning. These always turn out so delicious.
I finally got the super bowl mug that I had ordered the day after the super bowl- last week Friday. It had gotten sent to the wrong city out of Kansas City and sat there for over a week-it finally showed up. The last Chief's super bowl win I had bought a mug at the Wal mart store and was not happy with it-the edges of the top of the mug were not smooth-so this time I ordered one online.
I added a little whipped cream to my apple crisp-smiles
Sorry I do not have any new lake photos to share, but we have seen loons almost every day, the pelicans are traveling through-they are always fun to watch, and one of the eagles flew real close to the window in my husband's work room-big surprise haha. I heard him say "wow that was close" We also have seen groups of crows which I enjoy seeing too.
The birds know spring is coming-more arguments, courtships starting, and the red headed woodpeckers are back eating the seeds I put out, along with blue jays and a dove pair. We always get up early an hour or so before sunrise-just habit from our past work schedules-so we look forward every morning to the sunrises and watching the birds after I put the seed out for them
Enjoy your week and Happy T
Happy T! Lovely crisp.
ReplyDeletethank you-it was good
DeleteWe probably have to change to summer time this month too, but definitely not this week... fruit crisp looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI think its too early to change clocks too-they should really do away with this and just pick a time

I admit, on weekends I sleep in... otherwise.. well. We´re surrounded by houses from every side...
Alas, I can only enjoy other people´s sunrises (cause I´m too lazy in these tems to walk out where I could see it!).
Have a happy (T-)Day, hugs
thank you, I don't like this changing the clocks twice a year-crazy to me.
Deletethat was pretty cool for Larry to see the eagle so close.
at the woods home we never could see the sunrise-moon etc inside do to all the trees-so we really enjoy it here. Happy T
Apple crisp with whip cream sounds wonderful. Birds have been busier here as well.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, I love a little whipped cream on top of crisp Happy Monday
DeleteI love springing forward. More light at the end of the day. And that apple crisp looks to die for!
ReplyDeleteI think clock changing is messing with mother nature-that's me though Happy Monday

ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
thank you Kate, I am having fun with the blending board
DeleteI had a very long message that disappeared just as I was about to publish. So frustrated, I gave up and went to bed. The abridged version is I really like that green spun fiber and look forward to seeing your blues next.
ReplyDeleteDST used to start the first Sunday in April. I have an OLD digital clock that updates to DST, except it doesn't until the first Sunday in April. Old technology!
I think your new mug is wonderful. I am so glad you finally got it and so glad you shared it and your apple crisp with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kathy.
so sorry with all the struggles with blogger so frustrating but I appreciate it that you keep trying as I know you visit lots of friends every day.
Deletethanks I thought time change used to be april why so much earlier now I wonder-I don't like it at all.
My blues are turning out really pretty and finally a smaller yarn too yippy haha it has taken forever for me to get nice yarn.
I am loving my new mugh too Happy T hugs
here's your answer according to iweathernet.com:
DeleteFor years, the US observed DST from the first Sunday of April to the last Sunday of October. In 2005, President George W. Bush extended DST an extra four weeks, officially taking effect in 2007.
I KNEW my digital clock was old, but didn't realize it was THAT old (grin).
thank you Elizabeth-I guess this change has been going on for quite awhile then don't remember it being this early in march
DeleteWe were warming up and then the last two days we had a cold snap - so glad we hadn't bought any new plants. Your crisp looks wonderful and your weaving sounds so calming and is so impressive! Happy T-day and hugz
ReplyDeleteGood mornng that's what happened to us too-even the grass started growing-ugh well this is March haha Happy T
DeleteI think most everyone is having a tough March weatherwise this year from the sounds of it, at least here in the US. It's snowing like the dickens here right now. Your fruit crisp looks yummy, and that's a fun mug. It is a great keepsake from the game. And I like your yarn too. I like how you've added the bits of other colors. Will you be using all these newly spun yarns on your loom soon, or do you still have spinning to do? I hope you get some warmer weather, have a happy T day and week ahead also Kathy. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour area is getting so much snow -we are very cold here but at least no snow or ice so I am very thankful for that.
Deletewe love these fruit crisps. I still have more spinning to do, and then I need to look at my big bag of handspuns and see what I have and plan out my rauna. I have a project on the loom right now that needs to get woven off-I threaded it last year and then didn't get back to it-plus the room that it is in has no heat so pretty cold in there this year. I had bought a little electric heater last year but the electric bill has been so high already decided not to use it-sigh.
Happy T
Staying indoors when it's cold and working with fiber and yarn is a good way to spend the day. The yarn looks lovely, what a beautiful color. I like the longer evenings when the clock is put to daylight saving time and I don't have any problems with the change.
ReplyDeletethank you so much, it has been so cold here, this is the perfect project for me to me to get back into. the longer evenings are nice in the summer
DeleteONGosh, I just love the color of this wool. Well done indeed. The fruit crisp looks soo good. I really like your knew blogger look too. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Nicole-I am loving the greens too. we love fruit crisps, thank you my other background was wintry this one I am really liking too-thank you
DeleteI just made apple crisp in round, individual dishes to celebrate Pi Day! Fingers crossed

DeleteHi Kathy!!! The weather has been pretty nice here.. Two more days of nice weather then BRrrrrr... ! At least 4 days of brrrr weather.. Thats okay with me .. not looking forward to warm weather.. It gets hot and stays hot here way too soon! Hubby LOVES applecrisp.. I dont' make it often because of all the work involved .. peeling and slicing apples.. lol yup.. lazy cook here! He usually only expects it around a Holiday.. i should surprise him one day with it..lol Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteGood morning, the too days are not good either-we can get that here too some summers very hot with no rain. if you like another fruit can always used canned fruits but it will be more mushy. I am the apple crisp quite often at least once a month or so and add blueberries or raisins or cranberries to it. it lasts about a week for us.
DeleteHappy T
Your green yarn is a beautiful color. Your crisp looks delicious. Yes, time change came quickly! Happy T Day.
ReplyDeletethank you, they must have changed it to earlier
DeleteFirst of all I love the picture you have painted in my mind of the bird life around your home. We hardly see a bird around here these days and when we do it's pigeons, magpies and seagulls. We are lucky enough to get out and see birds on our walks but since we were told not to feed birds a lot of folk are missing the smaller birds, although one of my friends is hoping that the robin comes back to nest on her balcony - we kept it secret last year as we could see it flying back and to! It's rainy here but has warmed up a bit. Your yarn is a lovely colour. I will be making apple crisp today, may have cream on mine too! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Chris, we really enjoy the birds here very much-such a large difference in species too-so fun for us. we are back to really cold at night again in the low 20's F
DeleteI love cream on my apple crisp-hugs
Dear Kathy, I think your life at the lake is cozy and exciting at the same time. Spinning and fishing are very relaxing activities but then you see all the bird life which is certainly enjoyable and some sightings are exciting - such as eagles flying by. It's great that your super bowl mug has finally arrived after its odyssey - no wonder you celebrated it with an apple-raisin crisp!
ReplyDeleteAll the best - Traude 😘

Hi yes the move to the lake has given us beautiful views for sure. Yes I was beginning to wonder if the mug would make it or not-smiles happy weekend hugs
DeleteI am delighted with the yarn you have spun... great... I also have a spinning wheel but rarely practice spinning -
ReplyDeleteI have so much else - currently I sew... I'm always busy with yarn or fabric... I'm glad I found you... and I look forward to seeing more of your work :-)
PS a dollop of whipped cream is always good :-)))
Many greetings from Viola
Good morning Viola, so glad you stopped by for a visit. I am someone that bounces around allot my main love is fibers-I have don allot of natural dyeing on cloth and fibers, also the acid dyes, eco dyeing, making paper, I love trying new things-its time to get back to being a better a spinner and back to my weaving as my priority now since I am in mid 70s now.
DeleteMy mother was a master seamstress and made our clothes, drapes etc. I learned how to sew but was not great at altering patterns and sewing was forced upon me at a young age so I rebelled of course.
I agree a little cream makes me happy
I think your green yarn looks good.
ReplyDeleteYour apple crisp does look very yummy :)
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
thank you Jan-happy spring and new week
