Day 5 New Year's Challenge Plus Another Ink & Watercolor & Moon over the Lake

Today's challenge was totally out of my comfort zone.

We were to use the shape given (below) and paint an animal/fantasy. Suggested  medium was ink and watercolor

With these challenges I did not want to over think anything, just do what came to mind. This actually turned out better as it evolved. I used watercolor paints and my black walnut ink and the eye and mouth is iron gall ink

Late yesterday afternoon, I grabbed the Chinese Brush Painting book I worked with last year for a little motivation. I was pleased with the top part especially, and late last night I painted the bird (mockingbird) and added more leaves and flowers. I didn't care for bottom section of flowers-but overall I felt more confident with this piece.

I used watercolors and the iron gall ink (the black) I think this is my medium to work with-inks and watercolors. I am pretty pleased with my bird and really like the top portion of the leaves and flowers allot.

We are enjoying the gorgeous moon over the lake this week-last night's view

Happy Friday and Weekend

  5. You did good with today’s shape, which as someone said is a bit weird. You were clever with your use of dots and diamonds. Also great colors. But I like best your mockingbird and flowers. What fun to fill up a notebook with art! I have loved the Wolf Moon this week but keep thinking about 0-Six! 🥲 hilltop post

  6. I swear I didn't even know you had created this post when I left my last comment. Sounds like you and I are on the same page. Of course, I probably would NOT have used watercolors, because they intimidate me. Love your other drawing, too.

I have totally missed the moon this month. I was too cold to check it out until tonight. And tonight it is overcast here!

    1. I posted this one after you visited this morning. that is what was nice about these challenges-they suggested inks and watercolors for all of them but you could do what ever you wanted to--they suggested you could cut it out as a stencil and use in a collage too.
we are overcast too tonight so didn't see the moon

  7. That is a challenge indeed!!! And it came out very well!
I admit.... I did not start, I´m sick still. No (brain-)power. Or any power. Ingo does everything for me. I dread Monday, will I be fit for work?

Love the moon-lake pics! Hugs! They gave me a huge smile!

  8. Wonderful art and photos. You're doing well with the shapes. (On an unrelated note, I recently read about an area here in Connecticut that doesn't allow hikers from December to March because that is Bald Eagle nesting time, and it made me think of the pair you're lucky to see each year.)

    1. thank you Anne. we are so fortunate to be able to view this eagle pair-once they go to nest we won't see them much together don't know where their nest is I think the eagle's territory is around 5 miles

    1. Good morning thank you so much, it is pretty here-we just moved out of the woods to a lake house a few years ago-the eagle pair is so special to view sometimes in the spring they will bring last years youngster and teach him how to fish
