Today the challenge was rabbit and flowers, and they suggested using watercolors-but you can use what ever you prefer
I need a visual reference at the moment so I grabbed the Chinese book again-which uses mostly inks with brushes.
Barbara always suggested to me know when to stop--I almost didn't add the blue but I thought this needed a little something. I used watercolor paints, watercolor inks, and black walnut ink and iron gall ink. I used my watercolor paper notebook for this piece
I"m quite smitten with your rabbit. This looks like a good challenge.
ReplyDeletethank you-I am totally new with this-yes a fun challenge
DeleteGood job.
ReplyDeletethank you Christine
DeleteI'm always pushing that limit of knowing when to stop. It's hard. Loving your bunny. He's very cute. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletethank you Erika, yes I kept asking myself do I really need to add more-haha so just did it
DeleteI love your rabbit- a fun painting for day 2. I definitely need a visual reference when drawing animals. Your rabbit and flowers make me think of spring, but I have promised myself that I won’t get the fever so early this year. Mary @hilltop post
ReplyDeleteOne of the painting videos I have watched in the fast-suggested not to paint from memory but with a reference like your own photo etc. we are having spirng like temps still here too
DeleteVery cute, very well done! Oh, how these critters made me look in front and back before braking real hard!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn Wolfsburg, where I worked 4 years ago (for 16 years), there were so many rabbits!! They were considered a pest but no way I drive over a living being.
I was there around 05:40am, so near to no others around.
And I always took care to not look too close... you know.
Yours makes me smile. In summer I think they really looked at me (might be a wish only). Hugs to you and the lake.
46F here, hope you´re as "cozy".
I am loving the warmer weather too as it was soooo cold for awhile-below 0 F. yes some areas can be over run with rabbits-they are so cute though.
DeleteThanks I am happy with this piece-today's challenge-well it's a challenge haha will see what I can come up today
Someday I'll get my act together and do this. I'm still trying to finish up my Este MacLeod workshop!
ReplyDeleteAaaawww that's a cutie! Your doing great Kathy!!! I do like the addition of the blue... There is nothing wrong with using a reference!!! Some things i can pull out of my head but somethings i just can't .. Using a reference lets you see the light and shadows which only helps to make your painting more effective.. On to Day 3! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeletethank you
