Good morning everyone, Those of you in the States how was your Labor Day weekend? and it's Tuesday (which feels like a Monday here for me) which brings us to T with our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth. You are most welcome to join us, just share a photo with drink reference.
The main thing I did this past week was to walk almost every day-but I over did it with over 9000 steps one day and another 8000 steps the next couple of days and needed to stop for a few days. I also got hit with allergies which I hadn't thought of as that has started here already with everything dried up and gone to seed a bit earlier than normal. I do enjoy the walks and the time goes so fast while conversing with my walking friend Nancy (I keep thinking her name is Karen which I posted by mistake last Tuesday) I also discovered she is over 20 years younger than I am, so I heard her wrong that she was also in her 70's so thinking she has more stamina than me haha.
I am still in the quilting mode so I dug out my bag of Yellowstone inspired flannel fabrics that I bought after my Yellowstone trip in 2017. I decided to cut 12 inch blocks to really highlight the prints and will be making a 4 patch to match. This will be a large queen size and I have wool batting in my stash and also have the backing. I needed to purchase online a couple more prints and hoping they arrive this week.
I did churn up more of the keto vanilla ice cream
and for Labor Day weekend I made foods for the two of us. Shrimp on Sunday
Biscuits and gravy over the weekend
Monday for the Labor Day holiday I made us bbq baby back ribs with a large salad-forgot to take a photo of those.
For my drink reference this week-tried something new that someone brought over-I didn't care for these-but they are gluten free It's a seltzer with gluten free beer and flavors. I don't think I liked the taste of the seltzer.
I am hoping the lake on the weekends will calm down now. It was totally bonkers Saturday and Sunday with very rude boaters. I am ready for fall and winter on the lake for sure. "Our" eagle is back up in that tree sometimes the pair of them. They make me happy to see them and listen to their song
Happy T and Tuesday everyone. and a lake view from this morning
Your meals all sound very tempting, especially the shrimp. It's sad that the boaters are so rude and unpleasant on the lake, and too bad you didn't like your new beverage very much. Have a good week!
ReplyDeletestay safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
thanks you as well
DeleteI think of a lake setting as peaceful and have been surprised to hear about the large boats so close to the shore where you are. BBQ is always a good idea :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeletei never would have thought that this lake would have so many ocean boats-40 to 70 foot long and they just go back and forth pretty crazy to me
Deleteyum to the good food! Seltzer is bland, it's the extra flavorings we like or not... seltzer gives me a chance to have something different from water since I gave up diet drinks. I am surprised there would be gluten in any drink... but then I'm also surprised there is soy in teabags (soy is my problem food)
ReplyDeletewow soy in tea bags-not good I needed to stop using soy awhile back. there is allot of gluten in these types of drinks this was in very fine print on the bottom gluten free-maybe it was the gluten free beer they put in this one that I didn't like the taste of we drink very little soda drinks Happy Tuesday and new week
DeleteI like your quilt ideas and look forward to seeing it progress.
ReplyDeleteYou're an amazing cook. It's so interesting to read what you come up with, especially when you're making something keto or gluten-free.
It's too bad the rude weekenders spoil the lake for everyone. Aren't there patrol boats to keep people in line?
I enjoyed your "rambling" comment on my blog. It's nice to get to know each other better.
Happy T-Day. Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen
there are but they are mostly down by all the lake bars etc and the crashes we put in for a no wake buoy in front of our dock a water patrol person will come out soon to see why we need one haha
Deletehugs
Sounds like a good week. You are on a quilting roll! Your food looks great. Good that you are walking again. Have a happy T Day. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteyes I haven't sewn much in a few years now-time to get these quilt projects made
DeleteYour lake is so beautiful! I can't wait to see your finished quilt. The ice cream and all your food looks so good!!!!
ReplyDeletethanks this ice cream recipe is really really good
DeleteHow wonderful! You are certainly doing well on your steps and so nice to have a walking buddy too 😊. Your shrimp looks so yummy and what could be better than biscuits and gravy, I thought of you when I made some the other day. The ice cream looks yummy too and I'm loving those Yellowstone squares, the blue with the moose is my favourite 😁. Take care and wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeletethanks so much Jo
DeleteYour shrimp is especially tempting me today. The seltzer drink sounds interesting so I'd give it a try.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the rude boaters- I would have thought things would be more laid back without so many boaters there. Hopefully it will now be much quieter for awhile. Happy T day!
we aren't even in the "party" area of the lake but it gets crazy really crazy on the holiday weekends here
DeleteI'm going to comment on your lovely quilt squares and try to ignore all that delicious looking food, because I haven't eaten yet. I look forward to seeing the quilt progress and like the fabric you picked up in Yellowstone. Has it actually been THREE years since your trip? Time flies in the real world.
ReplyDeleteOK, can't get away from the wonderful food you fixed. Shrimp sounds good. I have some in my freezer I should fix. And your biscuits and gravy are so yummy looking. Too bad you didn't care for the seltzer. I've never cared for seltzer and having it with beer seems rather like defeating the taste of both.
Thanks for sharing your quilt plans, your food, your walks which you overdid, and your beer with us for T this Tuesday. Hopefully, people are taking their boats and heading home for the winter, now.
It doesn't seem like 3 years does it? and my author friend now has a ranch home beneath a row of mountains out in Montana, her husband still works as the head carpenter at old faithful and maintains the apartment there all year when he get back home do to the winters.
DeleteI had a taste for biscuits and gravy and when Jo said last week she made some well I needed to make us some too haha
that should said when her husband can't get out of the park to go home in the winters
DeleteOh dear, as you know I’m in my 70s too, but on the downhill slide to 80. Could I keep up walking with someone 20 years younger. Not a chance! Be good to yourself. 🤗
ReplyDeletethanks-I pushed myself too hard for sure
DeleteI love your quilt fabrics Kathy. I have some similar style fabrics that I started some pillow toppers from, and I do need to get back to them. Waiting for cooler weather. And that is also a beautiful lake photo. And your food looks yummy. I think seltzer takes awhile to get used to, but I wonder how it is with beer. The good thing about hard seltzer is fairlow low carbs and calories. I like that. Hope it was a super T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletethanks Erika, yes this seltzer is very low in sugars and carbs
DeleteLooks like great pattern choices for a lake front quilt. I'm not a fan of those drinks either. All the food you shared looks wonderful ~ Enjoy the quieter waters ahead
ReplyDeletethank you, we are looking forward to quieter waters for sure
DeleteI imagine the lake must have been bananas over the Labor Day weekend. Hopefully, now the warm weather is winding down things will be quieter. I hate crowds. I love that blue material with the leaves and moose. Made me laugh as I named the new car Moose because it's so much bigger than the Corolla I used to drive. Such a beautiful view of your lake, too. Take care and Happy T Day.
ReplyDeletewe don't do crowds either-I much rather go shopping online when I can too. that is my favorite fabric too the blue moose and leaves.that is fun that you named your car Moose-hugs
DeleteBeautiful photos. The fabrics you've chosen are pretty, and so rustic forest. Searching for a good deer fabric print has been frustrating.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I know about gluten free, but after reading your blog, I now know the scope of gluten free. I had no idea other ingredients can be made with things that have gluten, even vinegar! Wow. I will try the Keto Coffee ice cream. I must try try. lol
I searched for a couple hours to find a couple more fabrics with these wildlife animals-doesn't seem to be much this year in flannels yes just like watching for sugar in the ingredients list gluten is in allot of things this was a vanilla keto ice cream sooo good its from this blog-she has really good dessert recipes https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/perfect-low-carb-vanilla-ice-cream/
DeleteOh those quilt pieces look really nice. That quilt is going to be just up your street as I know you love Yellowstone.
ReplyDeleteYou are a clever cook baking all this gluten free stuff. We have a lot of coeliacs in hubby's family so we know about gluten free bread. It's not nice.
I'm surprised there are so many rude boaters on the lake.
Your meals look really scrummy. Especially the shrimps.
Happy belated T-Day,
Lisca
those gluten free buns I found are really good-I found them in the freezer with other gluten free items it tastes like real bread and uses allot of whole grains-pricy though a dollar a bun. many rude boaters here especially on holiday weekends-I was surprised too. the shrimp were awesome hugs
DeleteOh That fabric! Hubby was just passing behind me while I am on the computer and stopped to look! Looking forward to seeing this being made!
ReplyDeleteYour food looks great but I don't think I would like that drink!
Oh I do hope you get your peaceful lake back soon! BTW hubby is also very jealous of your eagles being close by!
Well done for your walks but I think after two days of such long walks a rest is well earned.
I had a recommendation that for my age - two years ago when I was 70, was 6,000 a day, although I often do a lot more too - several 8,000 - 10,000 over the last few weeks but then rest days when I aim for 5,000, which I feel is feasible while we are a home in our apartment.
Have a great week, A very belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
thanks Chris-I am 70 now and I am going to go back to 6000 steps with 8000 being tops. we are so happy the eagles are back too-I know their song now and can hear it the house so go out and look for them. You have a great week too
