Happy Weekend Everyone,
I am getting ready to go outdoors soon-see if it is too wet-or not-and dig up more chocolate mint. I have some flowers and marigold seeds to plant as well.
A couple days ago early in the morning I grabbed the weed eater and started cutting down weeds up on top where the mailbox is by our gravel road and near our cars. I have done this since we moved here. All of a sudden a huge bang and shattered glass everywhere. Look up and a small rock hit my back window of my old (1999) Mercury Mountainer Stood there in disbelief. I called around right away to get this replaced as soon as possible. At the time I didn't think about grabbing my camera to take a photo
A year or so go now one of the neighbors that takes a walk around our circle stopped to chat and introduced herself and she gave me her phone number if I ever needed help. Took me awhile to find it but she dropped everything to help me. Yesterday morning early I got the call that my car was done-that was fast-I was the first car they did. So thankful. I keep pecan pies in the freezer from nuts.com and offered her one for helping me. I don't feel quite so alone now.
We have good friends that we met from a mutual acquaintance, but he is having major medical issues right now. The doctors can't figure it out so they keep sending him home. He pinched a never in his neck and has horrible pain-they are thinking now possibly that he had a stroke in his eyes-never heard of this, but he does also have blurred vision. His wife will set up an appointment with an eye specialist. Sadly the hospitals near us-within an hour's drive are not good-perhaps this is the new standard sadly.
I am looking forward to the big 250th anniversary of our army later today-sounds fun.
Happy weekend, Happy Flag Day, Happy Father's Day too

President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed June 14, 2025, as Flag Day.
Enjoy your gardening
ReplyDeletethank you-nice day for it too
DeleteI would have been shocked too! Wow! So glad you had someone to help you. I've been out mowing with the mower this morning all that i can mow..Taking a little break then i will use the weedeater for awhile.. I have to be so careful with the mower.. which way i turn it so as not to kick a rock at the house and break a window or at other peoples houses or cars going by... aaack! So all that grass is knocked down , now its all about the weedeater cleaning up the edges and area i can't mow.. The gutter really got away from me.. Have you ever planted Zinnias? Any tips ? I'm fixing to plant some for the first time.. I always here how you have blooms within 2 months of planting.. and they are SO easy... true?? Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteYes I love zinnias and marigolds and so easy to save the seeds too-this year I needed to buy zinnias so I went on ebay and bought all different types and colors. Just scatter the seeds on top of the soil and then I go back and cover them up with a little soil. The zinnias I planted last week are poking up out of the soil already.
DeleteI have a lot of mowing to do again, but I got to get a handle on this mint-just came in for a break-perfect day too not super hot and partly cloudy so get a break from the sun. this mint's roots are large and matted into clumps-a big job to get this out. ugh all this rain so far is not helping either smiles.
I don't have to worry about the house and stones as that sits up on hill away from the grass. I see more rain in the forecast this week too-I got behind again with all this rain. the perennials I grew from seed two years ago are going great-big clumps of yarrow and others
take care hugs
Flag day was proclaimed in 1949.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you found a new friend who can help. Sorry about the broken window.
Cathy
Thank you. I just couldn't believe that happened. but I call the local auto shop that we use and they referred me to where I went-the glass was in the shop the next day and they fixed it first thing-that was nice.
DeleteHi Kathy, it's a good thing you had someone to help you!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am so thankful
DeleteSomething similar happened to us about 15 years ago - my son was mowing the lawn, and a rock shot out and shattered the sliding glass door. Good neighbors are a blessing.
ReplyDeleteOh wow that would have been scary yes good neighbors are a blessing for sure
DeleteHappy Flag Day. I taped the parade and will watch it in the morning. Glad you were able to get your windshield fixed rather quickly and now have a new friend. Janice
ReplyDeleteI taped it too on newsmax, right side broadcasting fox. I ended up watching it live on newsmax as they had two former military commentating
DeleteWow that must have been a rather large rock, Kathy, or it struck in just the right place to shatter the window. I have had a small ding in my front windshield from a roadway stone. We keep watching it to make sure it doesn't extend out to a crack, but after 6-7 years, it's been OK. Yes, it is nice to have met a new neighbor.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking it hit in just right the place-I had a car with a ding like that too-it ended up spreading but never got bad enough to fix it. this is an old car so I don't have extra insurance on it for things like this-but it was too expensive to fix thank goodness.
DeleteYes it is a good thing to have good neighbors I have been pretty isolated since Larry's bad fall
Sorry to read about your windshield. Glad you got it fixed. And glad it was fixed quickly. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGood morning thanks so much Erika
DeleteScary how that rock hit your back glass. Great to have good neighbors, though. My chocolate mint died. I'm sad about it. Hope Larry has a great Fathers Day.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Elizabeth, wow we had a water link-so the chocolate mint spread like crazy here took over a huge area of my garden the roots are matted together and deep the runners are hugs-total craziness lol
Deletethanks for visiting
Great you found a new friend!
ReplyDeleteEverywhere the same. I bring Ingo in severe pain to the hospital, they find nothing, give him back to me with pain killers - oh.so.often!
Glad I cheated on him and got his Brother for help, he found out.
Stroke in the eyes?!!! Ewwww.
Hope this never happens to us huh, hugs to you and the lake!
Good morning, wondering why out health tams are so poor now-and they have more technology etc now . I never heard of a stroke in the eyes before either.
DeleteHappy new week-hugs
ooops our
DeleteThat's horrible about the rock and the window. I'm so glad that it was a quick fix. But yikes!
